Boysenberry Cobbler RecipeGrandma Sherman’s Boysenberry Cobbler

Featuring fresh Boysenberries, this mouth-watering cobbler recipe is from Grandma Sherman is a classic.


Ingredients
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1-3/4 cups sugar (1 cup for batter, ¾ cup for berry mix)

2 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. salt

¼ cup shortening

4 cups Boysenberries

1 Tbsp. butter

1 cup milk

2 cup boiling water


Method
Cream together ¼ cup shortening, ½ tsp. salt, and 1 cup sugar.

Add 2 tsp. baking powder.

Alternate 1 cup milk and 1-1/2 cups flour to the cream mixture.

Butter a large round-bottomed baking dish. Add batter.

Add on top: a mixture of Boysenberries and 3/4 cup Sugar.

Pour 2 cups boiling water over the top.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes. Flour and batter will come to the top as it cooks.
After 45 minutes, check cobbler. When the top slightly browns, cobbler is finished baking.

Allow about 30 minutes cooling time before serving.
