The
Jacaranda
The Jacaranda is a genus of 49 species of flowering plants, native to tropical and subtropical regions of South and Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean, however, it grows in Southern California, adding beautiful blooms to any garden.
The species are shrubs to
large trees ranging in size
from 2 to 30 m tall. The
leaves are fern-like in most
species, and the tree can be
multi-trunked. The
flowers are produced in
conspicuous large clusters
anywhere from
April-September, are
tubular. Once the
blossoms fall, they create a
carpet of color under the
tree.
The Jacaranda can tolerate
different soils, but likes a
sandy soil the best. It does
like regular watering.
